Easter Activities

As well as our first litter pick of the year, we also had a range of free children activities.

A great big thank you to the Eden Bar in Eaton Road, who sponsored our free Easter activities and bought all the Easter Eggs for the children.

Thank you also to our friend, the Easter Bunny, who paid a surprise visit to the park.  There was lots of excitement from the children in the new play park as the Easter Bunny handed out free Easter Eggs (all with parental consent).

First Litter Pick of the Year

A great BIG THANK YOU to all our helpers who came to the first litter pick of the year.  The park is looking splendid in the Spring sunshine.

We hope the children all enjoy their well earned Easter Eggs.

We're off to see the Wizard!

What a fabulous show!  We went to the Empire Theatre just before Christmas! Everyone enjoyed themselves.  Comments from some of our members..........

'Fabulous show.  We really enjoyed ourselves.'

'Absolutely amazing night.  Kids had smiles for miles.  Thank you so much.'

'Amazing show.  The kids loved it.  Thank you so much.  Really appreciate all.  You all do so much.'

October Litter Pick

Wow!  What an amazing turn out in the park this morning.  Thank you everyone who picked up litter, helping to keep our park looking beautiful.  We hope everyone enjoyed the witch hunt and litter pick bingo.  If you didn't manage to find all the witches, the sheets are on the resource page.  I'm sure the witches will stay a little longer.  We hope you enjoy carving your pumpkins.  Send us photos when you've carved them.  We would love to see them.

See you all at the next litter pick!

Thanks also go to Andy for all his hard work with the compost bins!

Spooky Happenings in the Park

Join us in the park on Saturday, 28th October 2023 to search for 13 witches who are on the run in our park.  See if you can find them all!  If you want any colouring sheets of the witches, have a look on our resource page from where you can print them off.  Have fun!

How fabulous an artist Miss Burns from St Vincents School is!  Many thanks @stvincents and @eeveefoxart

Also many thanks to Dave for looking after the witches for the last three years.

Week 4 - Fun and Frolics

It's a wrap!

The children ended their 'summer of fun' in the park with a beach party.  That's it for now.  Many thanks to Ange for running the sessions and to the volunteers who helped her.

See you all next time!

Week 3 - Wet and Wild

Day 5 and day 6 of our summer activities in the park.  This weeks theme is Wet and Wild.  The rain certainly made sure the children got wet on Monday but was glorious on Thursday!  Next week is the last week of our free activities.

Week 2 - Diversity in Nature

On day 3, the children made worry stick people.  Day 4 saw the children creating tree artwork and cooking popcorn on the fire pit.  There was also a shadow puppet workshop at the weekend.

Week 1 - Summer Fun has begun!

Our summer of fun has begun and week 1 has been a big success.

On Monday, the children went

on a bug hunt.On Thursday, it was messy fun day.

Fun Evening in the Park

What an amazing time we had on Monday evening.  The Park was full of scouts from 2nd and 7th Fairfield Groups. The children enjoyed their last meeting of the year, eating and playing together.   It's always a pleasure to see children playing in the park.  We are now looking forward to our summer activities.  You can find the booking form on our Facebook page.

Sunflower Competition

Well done everyone who took part in our sunflower competition.  Well done Ant, whose sunflower was the first to open.  Thank you to Laura, who has looked after the plants to make sure they had a good drink during the recent hot weather.

Easter Activity, Day 2

Rain didn’t stop play on the second day of Easter Activities.  The children had lots of fun.  As well as taking part in an explorer hunt and a sunflower growing competition, they all received an Easter craft pack and Easter Egg to take home.  Many thanks to all volunteers.  We couldn't run these activities without them.  We are always looking for new volunteers.  Get in touch if you can help out.

Holly Lodge School

Welcome to pupils from Holly Lodge School.  We recently had a lovely morning with our new friends from Year 8 and Year 9, who helped to clean up our park.  They had lots of ideas on how to improve the park for our community. This was a fabulous start to our collaboration with the group.

Children from the local community have enjoyed Day 1 and Day 2 of our Christmas HAF activities (Holiday activities and food programme).  Day 1 saw the children enjoying a VIP experience at the Showcase Cinema and on Day 2, they were given a lunch and Mental Health box donated by @BoatofHope.  The boxes have been very well received - the children loved them.

Christmas Wreath Making

The ladies who attended the free wreath making class had a ball.

We think this will be an annual event now.

This young man really melted our hearts when we saw how much he enjoyed making his pizza using a recipe and ingredients from the park. Well done!

Your pizza looks so yummy!

Pumpkin Heroes

Half Term fun was had by all!  We again secured funding from HAF and MPAC (Holiday and Activity Food and Merseyside Pay Action Council) for their initiative 'Eat to Meet'.  This meant we could provide healthy meals and snacks for the families and children who took part.  Ange and our volunteers worked hard to provide activities whilst committee members 'worked their socks off' behind the scenes to make sure that the activities could go ahead.  The funding also allowed YES (Youth Empowerment Service) to provide activities for the older children in the community.

Summer of Fun

Thanks to HAF (Holiday Activities and Food Programme) funding secured by Donna, the friends group was able to provide fun activities for local children. A great big thank you to Ange and her team of volunteers for running the activities for the younger children. So put the kettle on, make yourself a cuppa and settle down to look through the photos of our Summer of Fun!  We think this quote from one of our visitors sums up what every day was like:

"Fantastic day with my boys and daughter.  The ladies who run it are great and put so much effort into what they do with the kids so they have nice memories to look back on and nice craft items to take home.  I will deffo be telling all my friends and family about it for their little ones!"

Thanks also to Chelsea and Stu from Youth Empowering Services (YES) for running sessions for the older children.

Another programme that has been a fantastic success.
